  1. The workstation has lost the connection to the network.

  2. Windows Firewall is preventing QuickBooks to access the necessary ports to establish a connection with the internet.

Solution 1: Repair Damaged QuickBooks Network Data Files

  1. Open QuickBooks installation directory in the C drive of your computer.

  2. Locate the files with .ND extension.

  3. The file name will be the same as your company file.

  4. Right-click the network data file and select Rename.

  5. Add .old at the end of the file name.

  6. Open QuickBooks once again and try to open the company file.

Solution 2: Restart QuickBooks Database Service

  1. Press Windows + R keys together and once the Run window pops up type services.msc in the text box.

  2. Press Enter and scroll down to find QuickBooksDB service.

  3. Right-click the service and select Restart.
